Narcís Mestres received a B.S. in Physics from the UAB in 1983 and a Ph.D. in Physics from Stuttgart University (Germany) in 1986 for work performed at the Max-Planck-Institut für Festkörperforschung. After a postdoctoral position at the University of Michigan (USA), he held an associate professor position at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). He moved to the Materials Science Institut of the Spanish Research Council in Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) in 1993, where he holds a scientific researcher position.

I have focused on the study of the structure and physical properties of materials designed for specific applications, especially electronics and opto-electronics for their control and optimization.

Research interests:

  • Nanostructures of functional oxides with potential impact in electronics, energy saving and environmental science
  • Physicochemical aspects of resistive switching in strongly correlated metallic perovskite oxides
