The 2nd AI for a Good World Summit is one of the main upcoming meetings this year. It will be organized in Geneva from May 15 to 17, 2018, by the ITU in collaboration with the XPRIZE Foundation, the ACM (Association for computer equipment) and sister agencies
of the United Nations (UN). The aim of this second edition, due to the successful 2017 Summit on AI also held in Geneva, is to identify new practical applications of AI with the potential to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. Thus, it will continue to formulate strategies to ensure trusted, safe and inclusive development of artificial intelligence technologies and equitable access to its benefits.
While the 2017 Summit sparked the first ever inclusive global dialogue on beneficial AI, the action-oriented 2018 Summit will focus on impactful AI solutions with the potential to accelerate progress towards long-term benefits and help achieve the SDGs. This exercise will connect AI innovators with public and private- sector decision-makers, in order to collaborate and to take promising strategies forward. In this regard, the most 'Breakthrough teams' on AI at the moment will expose the potential of AI to map poverty and aid with natural disasters using satellite imagery or how AI could assist the delivery of citizen-centric services in smart cities, between others.
